What is a Gilee?
Giclee is a French term which means "to spray". It was actually coined by a U.S. company to distinquish the printing process they used (using a highly refined inkjet printer and long lasting pigmented inks) from a standard offset printing process.

Giclée prints offer the ability to reproduce artwork on a variety of specially treated substrates including canvas, fine art papers and photo papers. They can also make reproducing artwork much more cost effective than offset printing -- especially when produced in limited runs.

A giclée print must meet certain standards. It must be printed using only archival canvas, papers and inks. Otherwise, the artwork would fade and lose its original appeal and value. Trey Surtees Fine Arts only uses the approved giclée printing process and utilizes only the finest pigmented inks on the market. An in depth study by a noted research institude rates the life of these inks as 100 years (indoors) before any noticeable fading occurs.

This new ability to sell reproductions of original art on different substrates has made giclées a very popular means for artists to leverage the time it took to create their original work and to offer it for sale at a fraction of the cost of an original.
That way, their work can get into the hands of art lovers at an affordable price and the artist can make additional income.

Giclée pricing is available upon request, just Contact The Studio.
